About

*Updates December 1, 2011*

Look out for her articles with NEW YORK TIMES this Fall 2010 with their East Village Hyperlocal Blog.  I have canceled the NYTimes plans and have decided to move to Singapore in July 2010 instead.  Now on board with Singapore's top food & wine publication, Appetite magazine

Last month, I joined a new SingTel initiative as the Editor of notatourist.sg.  While most of my time is dedicated to making notatourist.sg a vibrant community for expats like myself, I will be freelance writing for other publications - hopefully, of course, about food and travel.

ABOUT Victoria
Victoria Cheng
One day, Victoria started a blog and Facebook Page, and hoped that writing in third person enables her to write candidly without sounding overly immodest.
New York-born Victoria has been in the Food & Beverage industry, involved with award winning restaurant conceptualizations and development in Hong Kong and Singapore. The ever-growing food enthusiast and avid writer also scribbles on her food & travel blog, Gastronommy, to document her nomadic ways. Most recently, she has relocated to Singapore to join Appetite Magazine's editorial team to make use of her dusty New York University Journalism degree. She is constantly struggling between
the magazine's in-house British styling versus her natural inclination towards American-spelling.  She enjoys pies, bagels (the edible kind) and puppies (the non-edible kind).

ABOUT Gastronommy.com
Gastronommy.com

Gastronommy.com is a personal hobby blog with a focus on food, travel and culture.  It does not have any real agenda other than sharing the author's thoughts. It does not exist as your average restaurant-review site, nor does the author have any interest in whoring herself out as a self-proclaimed internet food critic (when it comes time to dine out, she leaves her camera at home - food is best enjoyed and savoured with nothing other than your six senses and the company of your dining companions). This site's true purpose exists to simply record the author's journey concerning her adoration of food and its business in her life as she travels from continent to continent. Gastronommy is here to digitally capture her personal growth in the kitchen and on the taste buds.  Like most things, there is always more to learn and share, so this site is always open to feedback and dialogue.

Happy nomming!

What is all of this "NOM NOM" business?

funny pictures

See this post for an explanation on the origins of OM NOM NOM.

As defined on reliable source Urbandictionary.com:
The sound of ravenous eating. Popularized by the character Cookie Monster on Sesame street, it is now used commonly in speech, especially among younger people. Cookie Monster exclaims "OM NOM NOM NOM" when gobbling down cookies (and whatever else goes in his mouth).
